Grants for Export Marketing Plans

Florida offers grants for customized Export Marketing Plans to identify overseas growth strategies.

SelectFlorida, in partnership with the Florida SBDC Network and the U.S. Commercial Service, offers qualified Florida manufacturers and services providers the development of a customized Export Marketing Plan to identify overseas growth strategies for the company. Upon completion of the plan, new-to-export or infrequent exporters can apply for Gold Key/Matchmaker Grant, a Trade Show Grant, or participate in a SelectFlorida overseas trade mission. The Florida Small Business Development Center Network (FSBDCN) will further evaluate applicants through interviews and recommends:

a. Five or more full-time employees.

b. $500,000 to $10 million in annual sales.

Costs Covered

SelectFlorida covers a portion of the cost of an Export Marketing Plan developed by the SBDC International Trade Specialist.

Grant recipient pays $500 to FSBDCN directly and SelectFlorida pays FSBDCN $4,500.

A company may receive a maximum of three trade grants each year between July 1 to June 30, subject to the limitations below:

  • Export Marketing Plan – One per lifetime
  • Website Localization Grant – Two per lifetime
Submission and Evaluation Process

Submission and Evaluation Process

Submission Process:

a. Applicants must complete the online application provided by the Florida SBDC Network.

b. SBDC Trade Specialist will make a determination regarding the applicant’s qualifications in conjunction with SelectFlorida.

c. If approved, qualified applicants will sign a Letter of Engagement; submit the $500 payment to the SBDC Trade Specialist, and provide additional data as needed in order to complete the Export Marketing Plan.

d. The completed Export Marketing Plan is submitted to the applicant and applicant signs “Acknowledgement” form.
