The economic ties between the Netherlands and Florida support 12,800 jobs across the state, making the Netherlands the eighth-largest foreign investor in the state as ranked by employment. In 2019, total merchandise trade between Florida and the Netherlands was $1.4 billion, making it Florida’s 27th largest bilateral merchandise trading partner. Florida exports to the Netherlands were $562.8 million in 2019, making it Florida’s 28th largest merchandise export market, and imports from the Netherlands to Florida were 853.7 million, making it Florida’s 26th largest source for merchandise imports. Leading commodities traded between the Netherlands and Florida include aircraft, oil, perfumes, orthopedic appliances, yachts, electric circuits and spirits.
Florida offers Dutch companies a gateway into the Caribbean and Latin American regions, as well as in the United States, with hundreds of airports, 15 deep-water ports, 3,000 miles of freight rail tracks and over 122,000 miles of highway to move your products and services to market. Florida’s state-of-the-art connectivity is the world’s largest telecommunications gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean, supported by 61,000+ total fiber miles, 47,000+ fiber-connected buildings and 275 data center locations.
With a focus on cultivating innovation and promoting collaboration between education institutions, Orange County, Florida has a Sister-City partnership agreement with the Hart van Brabant region of the Netherlands. Together, Florida and the Netherlands work to simulate economic and tourism development between the two regions.
