  • Florida-origin exports to Mexico totaled $4.0 billion in 2022, making Mexico the state’s 3rd largest export market. Leading export commodities include milk and cream, civilian aircraft, turbojets, chemical woodpulp, and fertilizers.
  • Florida-destination imports from Mexico totaled $9.6 billion in 2022, making Mexico Florida’s 2nd largest source market of imports. Leading import commodities include ethyl alcohol, cars, tractors, computers, refrigerators, and freezers.

  • Based on the most recent statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, Mexico is the 13th largest foreign direct investor in Florida, with Mexican-owned affiliates accounting for more than 5,400 Florida jobs.
  • Mexican affiliates in Florida were estimated to have total holdings of USD $1.4 billion in gross property, plant, and equipment in 2020.
  • According to SelectFlorida’s database of foreign-owned affiliates in Florida, there are more than 40 Mexican companies operating over 100 branch locations in Florida.

In 2019, Mexico ranked sixth in the number of visitors to Florida with over half a million traveling to the state. Florida and Mexico are committed to building strong cultural ties through their numerous existing Sister City partnerships, including Orlando, Florida’s Sister City relationship with Monterrey, Mexico, Sarasota, Florida’s Sister City relationship with Merida, Mexico, and St. Petersburg, Florida’s Sister City relationship with Isla Mujeres, Mexico, among others.
