Florida ranks among the top 10 states for manufacturing. Statewide companies produce a wide range of goods, including aerospace products, batteries, communications equipment, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors and more.
Florida is home to more than 18,200 manufacturing companies. These local manufacturers are a powerful economic engine for the state’s economy.
Azimuth Technology believes in bringing manufacturing back to America, a sentiment that Florida echoes. In the past three years, the aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, plastics, unique alloys and ceramics manufacturer has added 90 jobs in the Southwest Florida city of Naples.
“We are committed to making great products for our customers and hiring more Floridians in the Naples area,” said Len Zaiser, CEO of Azimuth Technology. “We look forward to continuing to expand our business and provide more opportunities for Floridians.”
Companies like Azimuth Technology are contributing to the success of the local manufacturing industry. Since December 2010, the state’s manufacturing industry has added more than 21,000 jobs. With access to more than 321,000 industry employees and 9.6 million workers statewide, companies have no trouble assembling the talent needed for any project. Florida is also a right-to-work state with one of the lowest unionization rates for private sector manufacturing in the country.
Florida’s leaders are committed to making the state as business-friendly as possible. As such, the state offers sales tax exemptions for the manufacturing industry, including manufacturing machinery and equipment, electricity used in the manufacturing process, and labor, parts and materials for equipment repairs.
When combined with its low tax and pro-business climate, highly-skilled and diverse workforce, top-ranked infrastructure and global access, Florida makes a compelling case as a state that manufacturers must look at for location and expansion opportunities.
