Global financial services provider expands Tampa location, creating more than 250 jobs and $4.8 million in capital investment
Nearly a decade ago, Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) chose Tampa for its first-ever expansion, thus beginning an auspicious partnership that is fruitful still today. In 2013, DTCC expanded its Florida campus as part of the company’s workforce location and sourcing strategy. Tampa was selected based on recruitment potential and quality of life for employees.
DTCC has long been considered by industry experts as the backbone of America’s financial markets, conducting behind-the-scenes processing for trillions of dollars of stock, bond, mutual fund and options trades.
With one of the largest finance and insurance clusters in the nation and a large pool of industry professionals, Florida was a perfect fit for DTCC’s needs. The company was able to access retired military personnel for many of its positions and collaborate with local universities to find a workforce with the finance and technology skills necessary for the financial services field.
Florida’s culturally diverse workforce of more than 9.6 million provided the talent DTCC needed to meet its commitment to diversity, with women and minorities accounting for a large portion of the company’s Tampa staff.
Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI), the state’s principal economic development organization, and its local partners at the City of Tampa and the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation worked with DTCC to expand its Tampa facility and meet the company’s needs.
Competitive economic development projects like the DTCC expansion are vital to creating jobs and diversifying Florida’s economy. EFI works diligently, along with state and local leaders, regional economic development offices, utility partners and community organizations, to expand the state’s economy and promote Florida as a premier business super-state.
The decision to expand our operations in Tampa signals our continuing commitment to this community and represents a new chapter in DTCC history. The City of Tampa, Hillsborough County and the State of Florida have been great partners of ours since 2004, and we look forward to strengthening these relationships for years to come. ” – Michael Bodson, President & CEO, Depository Trust & Clearance Corporation
