Orlando, FL – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced WWE will open its first ever state-of-the-art Global Performance Center in Central Florida, creating nearly 100 jobs and injecting $2.3 million of capital investment for Florida families.
Governor Scott said, “Our economy has created nearly 300,000 new private sector jobs in just over two years, meaning that thousands of Florida families now have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. WWE could have chosen anywhere in the world to house this new global performance center – and they chose the Sunshine State. Today’s announcement that WWE will create nearly 100 more jobs for families in Central Florida is further proof that everything we do is geared towards job creation and it’s working.”
The WWE Performance Center, scheduled to open in Summer 2013 will serve as the new home to WWE’s talent developmental system, recently re-branded NXT® and will house seven training rings, a world-class gym and cutting-edge edit and production facilities. The new center will be the training ground for talent that includes former professional and collegiate athletes, Olympians and entertainers, and will offer a best-in-class sports medicine program creating a central location for all WWE talent to receive the best care both in and out of the ring.
Florida Secretary of Commerce Gray Swoope said, “WWE’s new Global Performance Center will be a vital contributor to Florida’s economic growth through its investment in Orange County and the jobs it will create. The center is also the result of outstanding support from county and state partners along with Full Sail University. We’re helping Florida maintain a business-friendly climate that makes our state the perfect home for companies in any business sector.”
“WWE is proud to call Central Florida home to the new, state-of-the-art WWE Performance Center,” said Paul Levesque, Executive Vice President, Talent and Live Events, WWE. “The creation of this world-class facility, and our continued partnership with Full Sail University, underscores WWE’s commitment to the region and is an investment in our future as we develop the next generation of WWE Superstars.”
Today’s announcement also strengthens an already strong partnership between WWE and Full Sail University. Last year WWE and Full Sail University solidified a partnership offering students in media broadcasting concentrations the ability to gain on-the-job training while working on live tapings of the WWE NXT series, a weekly live show that is broadcasted in more than 60 countries worldwide. WWE utilizes Full Sail Live, the university’s performance venue, and directs all proceeds to a scholarship foundation for Full Sail students.
