“Jacksonville is home to VISTAKON®. We’ve been part of this community for 26 years and this expansion will allow us to do even greater things for our community and the business.” - Tim Ryan, Plant Manager VISTAKON® Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc.
VISTAKON® of Jacksonville is a division of Fortune 500 company Johnson & Johnson and a world leader in contact lens manufacturing. The VISTAKON® Division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. was looking to expand production and refurbish existing lines for their ACUVUE® brand contact lenses in Jacksonville. VISTAKON® currently employs about 1,800 in Jacksonville.
VISTAKON® chose to expand their Jacksonville facility because of Florida’s talented and diverse workforce, top-ranked infrastructure, strong partnerships between state & local economic development leaders, and business-friendly policies. They are now adding more than 100,000 sq. ft. to their Southside manufacturing and distribution facility.
VISTAKON®’s growth will add about 100 jobs and infuse a capital investment of $218 million into the Jacksonville region. To sustain this growth, the company is partnering with Duval County schools to initiate The Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc. Academy of Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering, providing students with an opportunity to earn a degree, and area employers a pool of well-qualified prospective employees. The company also anticipates expansion of its OneVision volunteer and outreach activities, reflecting its commitment to serving the community that makes it all possible.
