Registration now open for Florida companies to participate in international business development trip
ORLANDO, Fla. (August 17, 2015) – Enterprise Florida, Inc. (EFI), the state’s principal economic development organization, will lead an export sales mission to Honduras from December 1-3. Honduras ranks as Florida’s 9th top merchandise trading partner, having exported nearly $4.5 billion in total bi-lateral trade in 2014. With a 7.7 percent increase in Florida exports to Honduras over last year, Florida companies have strong market opportunities to sell their products and services.
Secretary of Commerce and President & CEO of EFI, Bill Johnson said, “The Honduran economy continues to gain ground, providing Florida companies interested in the Central American market a strategic entry point. This EFI-led international trip is an excellent way for Florida companies to meet with potential Honduran business partners and establish ties.”
EFI’s export sales mission to Honduras is part of its strategy to market Florida exports and companies in Latin America. Florida accounted for 42.1 percent of total U.S. trade with Honduras in 2014, and the state’s total merchandise trade with Honduras is up 10.1 percent through the first six months of 2015.
Honduras provides Florida exporters a wide range of opportunities for U.S. goods and services. Honduras target industries include, but are not limited to:
The U.S.-Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR), implemented in 2006, further facilitates trade for interested companies by eliminating most tariffs and barriers. The agreement also offers protection for U.S. investments and intellectual property while creating transparency and procedures for conducting business.
EFI will offer a limited number of Gold Key Matchmaking one-on-one appointments through the U.S. Commercial Service for participating Florida companies. The pre-screened meetings allow participants to talk with qualified companies interested in forming trade relationships with Florida businesses. The price of this service is $1,050. Small and mid-sized Florida manufacturers, high-tech companies and professional service providers may qualify for a Gold Key Grant, which will offset 100 percent of the registration fee for the first company representative.
EFI will lead three workshops to help companies prepare for the trade mission. The workshops will be held:
