GOVERNOR SCOTT'S TRADE & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MISSION TO BRAZIL

Locations: São Paulo and São Jose dos Campos
Dates: October 22-27, 2011
Attendance: 187

Overview:

While in Brazil, Governor Scott led 187 people from Florida, representing 115 different businesses and organizations, to help Florida companies sell more products in Brazil and to have Brazilian companies do more business in Florida.

Brazil is Florida’s largest trading partner and top export market in the world and the state’s largest investor from South America. The mission featured a two day Florida Trade Exposition where 51 Florida companies seeking to enter the Brazilian market exhibited. In addition, Brazil is Florida’s largest source for foreign visitors after Canada.

As a result of the trip, Brazil’s official export promotion agency, APEX, expanded its U.S. headquarters operations in Miami. The expansion and a $500,000 capital investment has enabled APEX to add seven full-time staff, relocate to downtown Miami and expand to 11,000 square feet of space, which is primarily used for 20 business incubator offices.

Trade Results:

  • Total sales leads: 1,138
  • Total projected sales reported by companies attending the mission: $96,684,500
