Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez’s Trade Mission to Colombia

Overview:
Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez will lead a delegation of small and mid-sized enterprises (SMEs) on an export trade mission to Bogotá, Colombia. The mission will take place from November 18-21. The trade mission includes 19 Florida manufacturers and exporters which will be matched with Colombian importers through the U.S. Embassy’s Gold Key Program.

As part of the state’s Export Diversification and Expansion Initiative, Enterprise Florida offers Gold Key/Matchmaker Grants to help Florida SMEs generate new sales overseas, increase their sales in existing markets, and expand in new markets. Gold Key/Matchmaker Grants reimburse qualified companies 100 percent of the participation fee for Enterprise Florida trade missions, or the full cost of a stand-alone Gold Key/Matchmaker service.

Enterprise Florida maintains an extensive schedule of overseas trade missions and exhibitions worldwide. Export sales missions are professionally planned and provide an opportunity for Florida companies to meet one-on-one with potential customers overseas.

  • In 2018, Florida’s total merchandise trade increased by 4.0 percent to $153.5 billion, greater than the 3.6 percent growth in 2017.
  • Merchandise exports (goods shipped from or through the state) grew 4.7 percent to $73.5 billion with double-digit gains seen in leading commodities such as aircraft, engines & parts and motor cars & vehicles.
  • Imports increased by 3.3 percent to $80 billion.
  • Florida ranked as the eighth-largest export state in 2018 with $57.2 billion in export shipments, an increase of 4.2 percent.
